Six Tips to Enjoy Summer Without Losing Energy - Olavie

Spending time in the hot sun can zap you of energy, making you feel tired and sluggish. Here are six tips to help you recharge and feel energized for the rest of the summer.

1. Begin the day with a little exercise

Get up with the sun and start the day with a little exercise. The best time to exercise on very hot days is at dawn. Start your day with a walk, yoga or stretching. It is important that when doing exercise we are present in the moment – feeling how our blood feeds our muscles, as well as taking control of our breathing. Being aware of your body and your posture will help you concentrate and make you feel happier throughout the day.

2. Stay hydrated

Do you feel tired, sleepy or hungry all the time? This can be caused by something entirely different: dehydration. As temperatures rise, the body removes heat through sweat. If you do not replenish those fluids, you may notice fatigue more exacerbated by heat or even feel more hungry than normal. We recommend drinking plenty of water during the day, and do not wait until you are thirsty to do so.

3. Refreshing fruits

Take advantage of seasonal fruits. Few things can be more refreshing than a watermelon or juice from a coconut. Both of these are cooling summer fruits , which will make the high temperatures more bearable. Opt for fruits that are easy to digest and juicy. When it comes to sweet fruits like oranges, eat the whole fruit after peeling rather than just juicing it to avoid taking in too much sugar.

4. Take a warm bath

A warm bath may not be the first thing you think about when you want to cool down and raise energy levels when it is very hot. Soaking in a warm bath helps dilate blood vessels allowing your heart and body to be more relaxed. Within a few minutes after the bath, you will experience a sense of freshness all over.

5. Rest well

Spending time outdoors and exercising can help you rest better at night. Getting enough sleep is essential to feeling fresh and energized, but achieving a good night's sleep during summer nights can be a challenge. So take a shower with refreshing essences before bedtime, put on fresh sheets, moisturize your skin properly and you will fall asleep better.

6. Meditation

Meditation relaxes you and helps you recharge. It also helps you to be more aware of the present, reduce stress and thereby improve your energy levels. You can try to meditate right after waking up to help you focus and keep your mind clear for the day, or meditate right before bedtime for better sleep.
